Summer Romance

This summer I fell in love.

The sun was warmer, the songs were sweeter, and every day was an adventure.

I never walked hand in hand down the beach or rested my head on strong shoulders at the movies.

I never got fresh cut flowers or was surprised with dazzling jewelry.

What I was given was even more than any romance novel could convey.

I got peach colored sunrises, the ringing laughter of friends and precious children to love.

I got new friendships to treasure and passion stirred in my soul.

My heart was awakened, explored, healed and cherished.

I fell in love with the One who has loved me all along.

God’s romance is subtle yet extravagant, perfect and unending.

“Summer romances end for all kinds of reasons. But when all is said and done, they have one thing in common: they are shooting stars – a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, a fleeting glimpse of eternity.” ~ The Notebook
